Elder Matt Okazaki Mozambique, Maputo Mission

So, this week was good. Time takes on a whole new prospective on the mission. I was in Maputo just
a few days ago but it already feels like that was a few weeks ago. Maputo was good. I enjoyed it.
It’s always fun to go down there and eat a good meal and then sit around and talk about the mission.
This time I found a little humor in things. A few weeks ago I was talking with Elder Ross (senior missionary
couple) and we were joking around a bit about the stupid things the Elders do and he said something a
little funny. He said that the way he knows that this church is true, is because the church has 19 year
old kids as it’s official representatives and it's still growing. I completely agree with him. I got another
laugh about the same little subject this week at ZLC. When I got home I laughed at how President Packard was
taking advice from a group of 20 year old kids on how to fix a fairly major ecclesiastical problem. Then he
expects us to come back up here to Beira and fix it. Ha. That ought to be enough of a miracle to prove that
the church is true.  The rest of ZLC went well. Talked a lot and ate a lot. Well worth it. Transfer Meeting
was good. Not what it normally was. A little more boring this time. Nobody really got transferred. Just a
couple of new training assignments and a couple of people switching between Maputo and Beira. Next one ought
to be a little more exciting. I'll probably stay here in Biera as a ZL but get a new companion. Elder Duhadway
is leaving next transfer which will leave a vacancy in an AP position and Elder Fiallo is likely to fill that
slot and so I’ll probably remain behind in Beira with a new companion. So ya. I think I’m looking at another
4 1/2 months in Beira before I get transferred To Maputo. It's fun being ZL and I get to do alot of really
cool stuff, but I’m kind of starting to miss just being a district leader in the field. It’s got its perks for
sure, being a ZL, but it also comes with a lot more pressure. DL is the best and most important calling in
the mission, other than Trainer. You get the chance to directly effect the work, where as being a ZL you try and
effect the DL's so that they can effect the actual missionaries, so that the work with improve. It’s a good
experience though and I’m learning a ton.
Too bad to hear about the Palmyra trip. That would have been really fun.
That High Adventure looked amazing. I'm mad that I wasn't there for that. Sounds like the Okazaki genes
continued in Andrew and Will. That’s good to hear. That trek would be fun. I think it would be a lot

of fun to go on. That would be something if the whole family went. The pictures were good. I forgot how big
real mountains really were. Well, this one's going to be a little bit shorter. We're having a transfer
party today and I’ve got to go prepare for that. We're going to play some soccer and eat some burgers.
It ought to be great. I wrote Elder Featherstone a Dear Elder today and so he ought to get that soon.
Well, hope all is well.
