Hey,
So ya.. big week. Obviously we had transfer meeting and it always
starts out with those who are training. This is a great way to start, because that’s probably the most exciting part for all of us. So the President put up the three new kids coming into the mission and starts announcing the names of the trainers. The first kid was Elder Brown, and so he always draws out the suspense and says Elder Brown will be trained byyyyy… But this time he said Elder Okazaki.. ha! So I’ll be training this transfer, a new kid from Utah! Ha, As I write you this, he’s making the trip across the Atlantic ocean and down to Africa. I will pick him up on Thursday afternoon. I was freaked out when I heard my name. I couldn’t believe it. I honestly wasn’t expecting to train at all. So it ought to be a super interesting transfer. Elder Briggs ended up getting transferred out to Munhava and so I was excited for him. The other two trainers are Elder Roylance who I’ve become pretty good friends with, and he is down in Maputo. He’s in the same district as Elder Buckner and is a really good guy. Then the other trainer is Elder Penson who is down in Maputo and has already trained 3 kids and was just released as being the assistant for the past 4 transfers. So I’m really looking forward to it. So I’m finally getting a filho, which makes Elder Lundgren a Grandpa here on the mission.
The rest of the week has gone well. We’ve got some good investigators who are getting closer to baptism and so it’s going good. Two more of our district elders were transferred up here to Beira and so it’ll be fun to see them and be with those guys. Elder Abraham (my first comp. in the MTC) was transferred down to Maputo and will be a secretary. That’ll be good for him. He’ll make a great secretary. It’s crazy though, because he’ll be driving next transfer, which will be nuts for him. In Maputo too. Driving is just nuts down there. People are crazy.
This weekend was general conference but we didn’t get to watch it up here in Beira yet. They watched it down in Maputo and will send the discs up to us to watch in the coming weeks. Apparently I don’t have to watch it now, thanks to dad’s summary.. thanks for spoiling it.. ha. So we’ll all be looking forward to that.
You’re right about the weather. It is a lot nicer down here. It is very pleasant to work in, not burning hot anymore. Just nice. It’s good. Everything else is going well. We’ll start cooking again because I will have to teach my filho (child) how to cook, but it will be good to cook again. We’re also getting 2 more missionaries in our house so it’ll be a little more crowded, but will be good. Elder Cunha (lived with him in Munhava, Buckner trained him…) and Elder Wade (from Maputo) are coming to live with us. It ought to be good.
I actually did get those packages so thanks! I loved the shirt Greg and Suepie sent! I took it out of the package and put it right on.
That’s pretty cool that Brother Klomp is coming. When will he be down
here and where’s he going? I think I’ll be in Beira for at least 2
more transfers. Maybe 3… we’ll see. Sounds like a fun trip to
California. Glad you enjoyed that. Well, have a good week. I’ll write you in a little bit and tell you how the filho is..
