Hey,
So this week has been pretty good. We had Zone Conference so Elders
Tarwater (from the MTC) and Vieira (first 4 transfers same house) were
staying in our house from Morromeu. It was way fun to see them. So we hung out with them for a few days and that was way cool. Elder Tarwater
bought a statue from some guy in Zimbabwe and so he was out here dropping it off. But what was way crazy is that this guy saw my nametag and said that some Sister Okazaki had come to Zimbabwe and talked to them years back... ha, turned out he knew Nana Okazaki. Said that his wife was the ward relief society president at the time and so she had met her and what not. But just a super random crazy connection. This guy sells statues and makes them over in Zimbabwe and they’re actually really super sweet. So that was one random night. Zone Conference was good. We talked about faith unto repentance. So ya, president, the
assistants and the zone leaders all did a really good job. Afterwards we went out to lunch with Elder Lundgren and the other assistant, Elder
Pinson. And so that was fun. Elder Lundgren is getting ready to go home. He’s just got 2 more transfers after this one, which translates to about 3½ months. It’s way weird that he’s already going home. When he goes home, I’ll be hitting my year mark. Super weird how fast time is passing. So, we had a pretty funny lesson yesterday. We went back to this guy’s house that we knocked on the other day and sat down with him and we were reviewing a scripture that we had left with him-3 Nephi 11. So we start to read it, and we read the first 2 versus, and I explain them, and then I tell him we’re going to read the next two versus and stop and explain them and so I ask him to read them and he does and everything is fine, and so I look over at Elder Briggs, because it was his turn to explain, and there he is with his scriptures open and his head bobbing up and down with fluttering eyelids. So I give him a little nudge in the leg and he wakes up with a start and reads a random verse and then looks back over at me. Luckily the verse he picked was the next verse, but it was super funny and later that night we were at a senior couple’s house and so I told them about what had happened and we all had a good laugh at Elder Briggs expense. He actually does that quite often. He’s a good missionary but a very tired kid. He did that to me the other day. We were teaching a first lesson and so I look over at Elder Briggs because it was his turn to teach and after a few moments of awkward silence he realizes something is wrong, comes back into consciousness and sees that it’s his turn to talk and so starts
teaching and teaches the exact same thing I had just taught and then just looks at me like nothing is wrong. So I’m fairly used to it by now. We always have a good laugh after. I always fill him in on the details later,if I catch him napping.
Well, things are going good out here. The weather is turning cooler so that is so nice. Easter was good. It was a good meeting and afterwards out district all came over to our house and we cooked some super good soup and had some mashed potatoes and had bread bowls and everything. It was super good. We just missed the Easter egg hunt... maybe next year...
I’ll have to think about my options as far as travel plans go. What do you guys think would be the best? Not quite sure. I’ll have to think about it. Anyways, have a good week!
